Marshalltown Pioneers have regular meetings which are at 11:30 a m on the last Thurs-day of every month. The meetings take place either at a local restaurant or at the Pioneer room (where we meet for potlucks in February and November).Usually about twenty people attend.
We have scheduled a champagne breakfast at the Binford House. This will take place at 9:00 a m on May 17th.
We collect for Lifeline at all meetings; we still do highway cleanup in April and October. Our annual Bakeless Bake Sale is scheduled for September; the funds raised will be used to purchase food and gifts for the family we sponsor at Christmas time.
We have contributed $200 to hospice and another $200 to the Salvation Army. We hope to continue making charitable donations.
Over twenty persons attended our Christmas party held on December 8th at the Binford House. All had an enjoyable time with good fellowship. Our group collected raisins and candy in November; in December we delivered those goodies to nursing homes.
Our members are involved in the yearly highway cleanup; in volunteering at the Iowa Soldiers Home, and at the hospital, nursing homes and the Home of Compassion (which assists the homeless).
