Tickets will not be mailed to you but will be on "will call" at the dinner that night. If you have questions about tickets contact Joyce Huskey, 503.390.0533.
We always have over one hundred people at the Crab dinner. Get your tickets early so we know how much crab and lasagna to buy. The deadline to order tickets in February 5, 2007.
John Appleton, retired from Salem was kind enough to donate a beautiful hand crocheted ivory afghan to our group. We are selling chances to win the afghan. Tickets are $1.00 each or six for $5.00. Tickets will be sold at the crab dinner and each month at the Salem/Life Member lunch meeting. We will draw the lucky winning ticket at our annual pizza party in June 2007. You don’t need to be present to win.
Third Annual Silent Auction at Crab-Lasagna Dinner
Donations of new or slightly used good merchandise will be accepted. With the numbers of active members and eligibles decreasing every year, the dues money we receive has decreased proportionately. This is one good way to raise money to donate to worthy causes in our community, or to sponsor a project of our own. Did you receive a gift for Christmas that you really cannot use, or a gift card to a store where you never shop? No need to re-gift or return! Donate these items to the auction and you will receive a receipt for your tax-deductible donation. Come to the crab dinner and get in on the fun and action of bidding for your favorite items. You may bring your donated items the night of the event; however, we would rather get them ahead of time if possible. Call Linda Doerfler at 503, 393-4340 for pickup. Let's make this our best auction ever! Thanks in advance for all your support!!

Charity Donations 2006
Willamette Council's Donations for Charity went to the following : Camp Taloali, Marion -Polk County Food Share, Union Gospel Mission, Willamette Humane Society and NW Medical Teams. The donations totaled $675.00.
It was great to be able to give to our community. Our leadership team gives great thought to the groups that need our assistance.
We will continue to participate in activities that are of service to the community and promote the happiness, well-being and assistance to those in need.
Treasurer
Joyce Huskey
I would like to encourage anyone with a few hours to spare to volunteer a school near you by telling you about what I have been doing at Swegle Elementary School. I have been volunteering for about 7 years, assisting students and teachers. I volunteer in the classroom with students and teachers. The students are in grades 1,2,4,& 5 they need help in reading, math., and writing. I grade papers, file homework assignments, give pre-tests, help with students during special projects such as making a paper mache earth, what fun that was.
I volunteer 3 hours, 2 days a week but you can choose your own hours and days. I find it very rewarding watching the progress of these children during the year, they are eager to learn and just need a little attention and encouragement. The teachers have large class sizes and can't always give as much individual attention as they would like to.
I hope you will consider helping in your neighborhood all it takes is a phone call to the school you don't need any special training.

PIONEER BOARD NEEDS YOUR HELP!!
The Telephone Pioneer Board has done their yearly rotation of Officers. The following will be your officers for 2007:
President: Leona Albin
Vice President: Carol Keefer
Secretary: Vicki Champ
Treasurer: Joyce Huskey
Past President: Vickie Wright
Fellowship: Linda Doerfler
Partner Rep: Bev Stueven
Vicki Champ, Vickie Wright, Linda Doerfler, Joyce Huskey and myself have been
on the board for the last 15 + years. Carol Keefer and Bev Stueven have been
serving for close to 10 years. Over the last several years we have had other
members serve on the board, but they have become burned out and quit.
Those of us that are on the board want to keep the Willamette Active & Life
Member Council up and running. We are looking for new board members that
will come with new blood and fresh ideas. There is one meeting a month, which
is held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 5:30 pm. One particular position
that needs to be filled is the Participation Representative. Telecom Pioneers is a
volunteer organization. So that we can get continued sponsorship from Qwest
we need to track our entire member’s volunteer hours and turn them in on a
monthly basis. The Participation Representative is very vital to the board. If you
are interested in volunteering for this position, please contact me at
503.371.4575 or Vicki Champ 503.364.1133.
The next Pioneer event is the Crab Feed. Please consider volunteering to help the board put on this event. It does take a lot of work and we could use as much help as we can find. Again, contact Leona Albin or Joyce Husky (503 390-0533) if you would like to help out.
I would like to wish each of you a Very Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year!!!
Leona Albin
